New Peer Support Group

Today we wanted to let you know about our new adult eating disorder recovery peer support group. We developed this group as a result of personal experience of not finding any support in Tameside, Glossop or surrounding areas for adults in recovery from eating disorders. Research shows that that up to 3.4 million people in the UK are affected by an eating disorder, and that eating disorders have the highest mortality rates among psychiatric disorders. Yet there is a massive gap in support, particularly for adults.

We wanted to create something which would help fill this gap. Group attendees will be able to relax with our therapy animals, take part in arts, crafts, games and more, and be able to give and receive support with peers.

We are keen to keep the group a safe space for all, so the attendance process involves completing a simple registration form and having a pre-registration chat with us to ensure a recovery group is right for you at this point in your journey. You are then welcome to attend on the first Monday of every month, 7.00-8.30pm at our Dukinfield base.
